Over the last couple of seasons, David has tried to add more flexibility and give increased leeway in terms of being able to rearrange fixtures. However, this has led to an increased amount of work in terms of rearranging fixtures that would be unsustainable moving forward. There has also been confusion regarding what could and couldn't be re-arranged - especially around finals nights.
Please could all players read the following new guidelines and rules to be applied this season and only enter competitions if you are willing to adhere to them.
Key Points for Rearrangements:
Put simply, if you can't make a fixture then you have to be letting the competition secretary know at least 48 hours before the original date of the competition or you are out. It will be up to you to organise a rearranged fixture and it will most likely need to be at the home club of your opponent. You will have 2 weeks from the date of the original fixture to do that and if the competition secretary hasn't heard back after 2 weeks then your opponent will receive a walkover.
Finals Nights
As has always been the case - the finals nights of the TC Jay, Rotary and H Astles Pairs are set in stone at the start of the season and can't be moved. All players should check the dates of these before entering and not enter if they know they are likely to be unavailable on those dates. If you find out you will be unavailable for the finals night having entered the competition then you should advise the competition secretary asap and you will be withdrawn from the comp.
Other Points
The last 16 and last 8 (and potentially other rounds) of the Rotary and TC Jay will be played on a 4 down to 1 basis on the same night. We do this to minimise travel and the booking of comp venues. As a general rule if the singles matches are starting at 7pm then it will be 2 rounds on the night. If its a 7.30pm start then it will usually just be 1 match. If in any doubt refer to the weekly schedule on the kadasl.org website.
The 4 down to 1 fixtures can potentially be rearranged along the same lines as above but obviously this will now invonvenience 3 other players rather than just 1 so should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
Please could all players read the following new guidelines and rules to be applied this season and only enter competitions if you are willing to adhere to them.
Key Points for Rearrangements:
- Ideally, matches are to be played on the date published and venue specified. It is acceptable for the players involved to agree to play the match before the specified date if all parties are in agreement. The competition secretary must be informed of this so that the original venue can be informed of the change. The competition secretary will not be responsible for arranging the new date/time/venue.
- Matches can only be played later than the specified date if the competition secretary is informed of the need to rearrange at least 48 hours in advance of the original fixture date/time.
- Having informed the competition secretary of the need to rearrange the match the responsibility for arranging the new date/time/venue will fall with the player who couldn't make the original fixture.
- The player will need to contact their opponent and arrange a date/time/venue for the new fixture - this must be within 2 weeks of the original fixture. It is expected that the player will offer to play the new fixture at the opponents club (unless both players agree otherwise) - this disadvantage of playing 'away' being the price to pay for not making the original fixture.
- The competition secretary should be advised of the details of the new fixture and will update the website. This will now be an official competition fixture and be subject to the same rules as any competition fixture - apart from any rearrangement needing to still be done within 2 weeks of the original fixture, not the new one.
